When did you start working for LTS?

1996 – 22 Years Ago

What role did you start doing?

Part Time Administration Assistant

What role do you do now?

Directors PA

How has the company changed since you started ?

When I started in 1996, LTS was known Kestrel Telecom and headed by Sarah’s late father Peter Hawkins with Sarah assisting him. We had no internet and we used pagers to contact engineers in the field.

Once the internet arrived and we renamed to Local Telecom Service Ltd, we added as a first step, Dial Up Internet (remember the handshake noise? ) to businesses in the York and North Yorks area as well as Telephone System Maintenance Agreements. Jumping forward to today, LTS offers a multitude of communication services to businesses within the region and beyond.

We are proud of all the services we offer and the relationships we develop with our customers, we never rest on our laurels and strive to offer clients honest advice and the most apt and cost effective solutions.

What do you enjoy the most about working at LTS?

I enjoy the interaction with customers and helping to solve any issues that occur with customer’s services. Although in my role as PA I am less customer facing than I used to be I still enjoy chatting to customers both with whom we have long standing business relationships with as well as helping to build relationships with new customers.

As Directors PA, working with both Sarah and Mark is very rewarding and varied. Of course, the team we have built at LTS is the best we have ever had and it’s a pleasure to come to work.

What work achievement are you most proud of?

Helping to build up the Broadband/ADSL and Telephone System Maintenance divisions within LTS and importantly working as a team to provide good customer service to all our customers.

What’s in store for the future?

The lines between Telecoms and IT are increasingly blurring, and its an exciting time to be in Telecoms.

Finally what do you like doing out of work?

Having three grandchildren enriches my life at home, there is always something amusing in progress that produces a wry smile. Socialising with friends and family, reading, music and travelling are my other passions.
